The lecture, ‘Arctic Indigenous Seas - Selected highlights from the unknown region’, will take place on 9 March 2022, 18:00 – 19:15 GMT, from head of the village of Selkie in North Karelia, Finland, and President of Snowchange Cooperative, Dr Tero Mustonen. He’ll join us to discuss the Arctic Seas, indigenous communities, and climate change. Register your place here.

On Thursday 3 March, we will be celebrating University Mental Health Awareness Day by hosting a full day of free wellness-related events and workshops specifically for PGRs in the PGR Hub. This showcase event will present some of the health data science research at Bristol and projects supported by the strand over the last two years. Everyone with an interest in how data science can improve health is warmly invited. There will be an opportunity to ask questions after the talks.

High resolution regional climate projections at the UK Met Office Climate projections at very high resolution (km-scale grid spacing) are becoming affordable. These ‘convection-permitting’ models (CPMs), commonly used for weather forecasting, better represent small-scale processes in the atmosphere such as convection and are able to provide credible projections of changes in local weather extremes.

Join us for the first in a series of special Green Guest Lectures from the School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol. Eminent Professor of Natural Resource Management, Thomas Elmqvist, will be giving this talk as part of Bristol Festival of the Future City. There will be opportunity to ask questions at the end, chaired by Associate Professor Sean Fox, from the School of Geographical Sciences and Cabot Institute for the Environment.
